Rising up between Mas de Torrent and the Mediterranean Sea is the medieval outline of Pals, a beautifully preserved and restored fortified enclave. All that remains of the castle is the Les Hores Tower, a fine example of Roman fortress towers. All over the town centre, one can also admire various Gothic buildings, such as the Cala Pruna House Museum of Underwater Archaeology, housed in a fortified medieval manor house with two towers, as well as the church of Sant Pere.
From the uppermost part of Pals, one can enjoy a view over the plains of the Empordà and the Mas de Torrent estate towards the west; towards the east lie the rice paddies and the magnificent Playa de Pals beach which stretches all the way to the mouth of the river Ter with the Medes Islands Nature Reserve as a backdrop.
Distance from Mas de Torrent: 3 km (5 min by car, 15 min by bicycle).
